Princeton’s Nobel Laureates for 2021 Receive their Medals in Celebrations around the World - Suki Manabe

Dec. 13, 2021

In ceremonies across the country and the world last week, Princeton’s five Nobel Prize laureates for 2021 — AOS Senior Meteorologist Syukuro (Suki) Manabe (physics), David MacMillan (chemistry), Joshua Angrist (economic sciences), David Card (economic sciences) and Maria Ressa (Nobel Peace Prize) — delivered their Nobel lectures and were awarded their Nobel Prize medals and diplomas.

While COVID-19 restrictions precluded the U.S. recipients from traveling to Stockholm, celebrations took place at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. (where Suki Manabe's was held), and at the Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering in Irvine, California, where the laureates received their medals and diplomas from Karin Olofsdotter, Swedish ambassador to the United States. Ressa was able to travel to Oslo to deliver her Nobel Peace Prize lecture today and receive her medal and diploma.

A gala Nobel Prize broadcast from Stockholm closed the week and included clips from the various ceremonies.
