Sept. 27, 2019

As the second speaker of the Fall 2019 PEI Faculty Seminar Series, CIMES Director Gabriel Vecchi, professor of geosciences and the Princeton Environmental Institute, will present “Climatic Influences on Tropical Cyclones and Their Severity” at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in Guyot Hall, Room 10. He will discuss how natural and human-made factors have combined to change the activity and impacts of tropical cyclones, among the deadliest and costliest natural hazards on our planet. He will draw on research using observations, theoretical constructs, and climate-model experiments to explore how tropical cyclones in a warmer future will compare to those of the past.
