The Cooperative Institute for Modeling the Earth System is an exciting and stimulating place to work, bringing scientists employed by Princeton University together with collaborators in the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory. We are striving for a diverse and inclusive community, where people with many different experiences and perspectives are able to contribute to improved understanding of the earth system.
Most researchers supported by the Cooperative Institute for Modeling the Earth System are hired as postdoctoral researchers or associate research scholars by the Atmospheric and Oceanic Science Program in which they are affiliated. An open competition for the postdoctoral program solicits applications once per year. Other postdoctoral and researcher positions for specific projects are advertised regularly. The Visiting Faculty Exchange Fellow program funds short visits to Princeton University by faculty affiliated with other institutions, while the internship program brings in students for 8-10 weeks to introduce them to earth system science.
